Nothing ever happens in Hannover-Langenhagen. Absolutely nothing. The "Superbuhei" supermarket is the undisputed highlight—and consequently the epicenter of social interaction—amidst this grey suburban hellscape. In the same building, Jesse Bronske runs the "Klaus Meine Bar," dedicated to the frontman of Hanover’s most famous hard-rock export, and playing the same Scorpions CD plays on an endless loop every single day for Jesse’s three loyal regulars. But then, Jesse finds himself facing a lawsuit from the rock band itself, and begins to question his own sanity when a menacing doppelgänger appears across the street, visible to no one but him. Before long, there is far more going on in Langenhagen than Jesse, or anyone else, would have ever bargained for. Based on Sven Amtsberg’s novel of the same name, Josef Brandl weaves a quirky tale from Northern Germany with a keen sense for surreal unease. Brimming with wit and dry humor, the film embraces paranoia as a genuine philosophy of life. And with Oliver Korittke beyond reproach in the lead role, the film is a trip you simply have to love!
»You have conquered, and I yield. Yet henceforward art thou also dead – dead to the world and its hopes.«
