KANDAHAR
A soldier returns from combat in war-torn Afghanistan to continue his fight, this time on the battlefields and in the bedrooms of the home front.

LOT'S WIFE
A young woman recounts the difficult and uncomfortable story of her high school years, as well as her recent experiences at her 20-year class reunion.

In collaboration with the Oldenburg State Theatre, the Filmfest presents a staged reading of two plays by our guest of honor Neil LaBute, performed by LaBute himself alongside Gia Crovatin, the lead actress from »Murderous«.

Beyond his cinematic work, which is showcased at the festival through a selection of his most significant films, LaBute is above all a highly respected playwright whose works have remained on stages around the world for more than 20 years. His play »Bash: Latterday Plays« was voted Best Foreign Play of the Year in Theater Heute's critics' survey in 2001. »reasons to be pretty« was nominated for three Tony Awards in 2009, including Best Play.

Gia Crovatin is a film and theatre actress who shares a long-standing creative partnership with LaBute. She has appeared in several of his films, most recently in the lead role of »Murderous«, which premiered in Oldenburg.
