Internship
The Oldenburg International Film Festival is one of the most important film festivals for independent cinema in Europe. In addition to this focus on young, independent cinema, the program includes special series, tributes and retrospectives honoring exceptional filmmakers and actors. In addition, the renowned German Independence Awards and, since 2012, the Seymour Cassel Award are presented.
For the planning, organization and realization of the 31st Oldenburg International Film Festival (September 11 - 15, 2024) we are looking for you in the time from June/July until the end of September.
What we expect:
For all our internships, we require independent and responsible work as well as a high level of commitment and the ability to work under pressure. Due to our international team and network, a good command of English is a must. In order to organize an event of this size, you should be a team player and an organizational talent who can manage both administrative tasks and the creative planning of events. Your profile is completed by a confident handling of the Microsoft Office package, flexibility and a willingness for hands-on support.
What we offer:
In return, we offer you practical experience in cultural and event management, a wide range of opportunities to actively contribute yourself and involvement in the organization of a renowned, international film festival. An internship at Filmfest Oldenburg is the ideal way to gain your first experience in the culture/film sector and offers entry-level opportunities in various areas of cultural management, such as film and material coordination, guest relations and event management. In any case, this also includes working closely with the festival's programming department, which you will support with your own ideas and by conducting extensive research.
Our departments:
CONTENT & MATERIAL MANAGEMENT
July until end of September
The cultural public not only perceives Filmfest Oldenburg through the media, because we also provide an appealing presentation of our program with a program booklet, with a festival catalogue and on the internet (homepage/social media).
What you can expect:
For the visual representation of Filmfest Oldenburg, the tasks of content management include researching, requesting, providing/selecting and managing meaningful images, texts, posters and other externally effective materials. This is done in close cooperation with the program department.
What we expect:
This area is where most of the contact with domestic and international filmmakers and industry representatives takes place in the run-up to the festival. Therefore, a very good command of written and spoken English and telephone are a great advantage. Knowledge of image editing programs (e.g. Photoshop) is desirable. We expect you to have a good command of the Microsoft Office package and to be able independently.
ASSISTANCE IN EVENT MANAGEMENT
July until end of September
We are looking for organizational talents and team players to support the event management team in the preparation and execution of the opening and closing events, gala receptions, award ceremonies and various other events.
What to expect:
You will be in charge of the film festival events, create guest lists, maintain the related database and be responsible for the smooth running of the event. In addition, you will work closely with the partners and sponsors of the film festival regarding the handling of sponsoring goods and presentatation material.
What we expect:
Working under time pressure, even outside of a regular workday, should not bother you as much as completing parallel tasks in a timely manner. The ability to work in a team, independence, creativity, solution-oriented thinking, flexibility and a willingness to "get down to business" round of your profile. We expected you to have a good command of the Microsoft Office package. Furthermore, you should have a good command of English. Initial experience in event or project management is desirable, but not a must.
ASSISTANT IN THE PRESS DEPARTMENT
July until end of September
The press department of Filmfest Oldenburg is the link between the festival and the regional, national and international media (online, TV, radio and print).
What to expect:
In addition to the editorial implementation of target-group-oriented content, the task includes the preperation of reviews of individual films and the arrangement of interviews, as well as looking after the press at the press screenings, press conferences and answering numerous press enquiries.
What we expect:
To assist the press department, you will have initial experience in PR and press work as well as communication and sociability skills. You should be able to work in a calm and concentrated manner and be prepared for repetitive tasks, such as maintaining the database, to be just as much a part of your daily work as providing press support at evening events. We expect you to have a good command of the Microsoft Office package. Furthermore, you should have a good command of written and spoken English.
