Johannesburg, 1968: Khuthala wants nothing to do with inheriting his father’s laundromat. While he dreams of a music career, the apartheid regime intensifies its pressure on Black business owners. In her feature film debut, South African-Swiss director Zamo Mkhwanazi tells a quiet, poignant family story that expands from its historical setting to address broader questions: How far will one go to secure the livelihood of the loved ones?
