Alex and his brother Dillon have just gotten out of jail after a few run-ins with the law, and following the first meeting with their probation officer, they not only stumble upon a suspiciously cheap apartment but also manage to land an interview for an honest job. But then, after a wild party at the local trap house, Dillon suddenly disappears, and Alex embarks on a dangerous search through South Florida’s eccentric subculture full of thugs, weirdos, and lizard people. Something is very, very wrong here. People are disappearing. Suspicious figures lurk in the shadows. And the trail leads straight to the ominous retirement community at the end of the street.

“Jit” is a love letter to Florida weirdness. With a minimal budget, Ethan Gathman and Jorge Rodriguez have put together a thoroughly original stoner odyssey that confirms every Southern cliché but never apologizes for it. Visually striking shots blend with the unsettling VHS aesthetic of lo-fi inserts and an electrifying soundtrack of dissonance, underground rap, and local dialects. A wild ride!
