“Thank you for a great weekend in Oldenburg. Both the producers we brought with us, and me and Inge who represented Filminvest, enjoyed our stay. We liked the informal vibe of the event, and were in fact so inspired that the next mingling event we are arranging ourselves (in Berlin, during the film festival) will be modelled after your Matchbox. We liked that you did not use PowerPoint, but instead let the producers pitch from the sofa, and the American host was great at keeping it all tight and well-formulated. Our producers made some new contacts, and I expect that we will be back next year!

The Matchbox Coproduction Lounge is a launch pad for developing projects by experienced filmmakers and emerging talents, organized by the Oldenburg International Film Festival and taking place within the 5-day Festival. The one-day event aims at providing filmmakers and industry professionals a relaxed and personal environment in which to connect and create opportunities for future collaborations.

Following last year’s successful launch, the Matchbox Coproduction Lounge returned in 2017 for its second edition. The event was held on Saturday, September 16th at the VIP Lounge Rooftop located at Rosebohm Pfedermarkt 7 in Oldenburg.

10 international projects at different stages of development were included in the official program and presented at the event to the attending producers and industry professionals.

This year, the official program also included the presentations from the representatives of FilmInvest/Norway and Luxembourg Film Fund who presented their funding mechanism as potential coproduction partners. The presence of these two funding bodies has been implemented as a mechanism for further supporting the development of the projects selected for participation in the Lounge, as well as an opportunity to provide an incentive for German producers to seek international coproduction partners in realizing their projects.
