Somewhere near the Dutch-Belgian border. A small town, lots of countryside and even more monotony. Only the highway cutting through the grasslands reminds one that somewhere out there a loud and fast-paced world exists. Eight teenagers spent a calamitous summer here. What begins like a dreamy variation of »Stand By Me«, quickly becomes a wild, excessive and finally
controversial portrait of a youth that has lost its footing. A tragedy in the making. René Eller’s smartly interlaced narrative circles the impending doom from different perspectives, while the fatalistic characters narrate the past events with voices seemingly full of remorse. But in this beautiful but equally fatal story of a youth deciding against growing up, nothing is like it seems. And now the father of all melancholic teenage-movies makes another appearance, because – like in »Stand By Me« – the beauty of the unknown territory hides a terrible secret.
