Indonesia, in the 60s: amidst iconic events of a coup and genocide kept hidden from the world, a simple villager, Siman, happens upon a film shoot in a forest. Unwillingly he witnesses the filming of the Moon Landing. To ensurehis silence, he is forced to bite off his tongue - literally. Rendered mute, like his repressed countrymen, he gathers shrapnel, builds a backyard rocket, and dreams to fly to the moon. His only escape from a traumatic existence. Like a gravity-defying astronaut, he moves in slow motion, and is misperceived as crazy, unable to speak about lies that have held the world hostage. On the 50th Anniversary of the Moon Landing, in times when truth is more clouded than ever, this delightfully wild and intelligent film from Indonesian rising star, Noen, could not be more timely. 1969s fake moon landing hoax, one of the most wildly debated conspiracy theories ever, still resonates today. A year earlier, in 1968, Kubrick’s »Space Odyssey: 2001« proved to the world and NASA, that cinema had the tools to recreate reality.
