Even hardened trash-horror fans will not be too familiar with the name Al Adamson. Even though he made many contributions to the Californian B-Movie scene of the 70s, Adamson has to this date never gotten the respect and the prestige imparted on similar cult-directors like Roger Corman or Ed Wood. A wonderful grant of those honors for the rarely noticed Al Adamson. But his contributions demand acknowledgement and his life-story is worth telling. David Gregory, a true connoisseur of early horror films who has previously dedicated homages to Dan Curtis, Richard Stanley and Frank Henenlotter, has now set his sights on Adamson. »Blood & Flesh« is a love letter to independent cinema and its protagonists. With a respectful wink, he outlines his turbulent and tragic life - from his childhood, throughout his career and to his horrible death. He bestows honor to whom honor is due. Gregory has created a fantastic snapshot of a group of outsiders, opportunists and low-budget-creatives in a Hollywood where there was still room for
independents along with the mainstream.
