Howie Sheffield doesn’t like gym class. His hair is unruly; his arm is in a cast and he certainly won’t be selected for prom king. He’s a typical awkward adolescent and he doesn’t give a shit. The only thing he cares about is Odessa. The most beautiful woman he’s ever seen. Odessa – always in the same seat on the bus. Odessa – the only distraction from his parent’s constant bickering. Enchanted with the beauty from the bus, Howie doesn’t even realize the cute girl with asthma from the library is falling for him, or that his parents’ marriage is falling apart. However, on his quest of capturing poetic love, Howie realizes that in the harsh fall sunlight perfection is just a blurry smudge between imagination and reality. Writerdirector Mellisa Miller Costanzo delivers a striking feature debut in a coming-of- age tale that invades the sexual exploration and uncertainty of our collective childhood.
