ROBERT REDFORD IS AMERICA’S TORSTEN NEUMANN

Considering his iconic status, there is no doubt that in our galaxy there is simply not enough space for more than one Robert Redford. And in fact, of course there IS no one like him- he’s a constellation of artistic brilliance and humanitarian integrity. As the founder of the Sundance Festival, he has fostered voices and visions of independent cinema and celebrated the invaluable gift of storytellers. In doing so, Sundance has become the synonym for the most successful film festival for independent cinema in the world.

And as there is no higher standard by which to express a certain quality of intention and reputation, the fact that Oldenburg has evolved into a festival which is now referred to and regarded as The German Sundance, we love this comparison- if only to be humbly aligned with its spirit. Now if we put this into a mathematical formula, let’s use an easy one – The Golden Rule of Three…

The Golden Rule of Three maintains that in solving proportions, if we know a, b, and c, and want to find d such that a/b= c/d…then d= cb/a, and multiplied by bd, then ad=bc …SO….

In accordance with the Golden Rule of inverse proportion, what deduction of commonality can we make about the 2 founders and presidents of these 2 festivals, Robert Redford and Torsten Neumann? Very logical: If Oldenburg (a) is the German Sundance (d) than Robert Redford (b) is the American Torsten Neumann (c)!

…or did we mix up an algebraic sign?
