Deborah Kara Unger and David Kross join growing list of International attendees


Oldenburg unveils complete Program with premieres of Phedon Papamichael’s “Lost Angeles”, Jean-Claude Brisseau’s Locarno winner “The Girl from Nowhere” and Stephen Chbosky’s “The Perks of Being a Wallflower” and highlights from Israel, Slovenia, Canada, Norway, Ireland.

The Closing Night Gala will host the World Premiere of award-winning cinematographer Phedon Papmichael’s 5rd feature as a director. “Lost Angeles” follows the highs and lows and blurred lines of celebrity and sleaze in Los Angeles- where ultimately everyone is lost.

Oscar-winner Mira Sorvino, president of Oldenburg’s first all-female jury, will present the International Premiere of her latest work “Union Square” with acclaimed director Nancy Savoca at the Mid-Fest Gala. Ms. Sorvino is also this years’ recipient of the ‘Star of Excellence’ on OLB’s Walk of Fame.

Award-winning actress and ‘Star of Excellence’ recipient Deborah Kara Unger (The Way) returns to present the German Premiere of Samuel L. Jackson noir, ”The Samaritan”, 2012 DGC winner Best Film. David Kross (War Horse) and Florian Lukas (Goodbye Lenin) will be in attendance to present the German Premiere of “Into The White”, co-starring Rupert Grint, along with Norway’s most honored director Petter Næss (Elling). Hendrik Handloegten’s “16 Oaks” starring Heike Makatsch, will be the Opening film of the ‘The Prison Screenings’ – part of Oldenburg’s annual program- at the ‘Alcatraz of the North’, which also includes a Festival first as Butch Walker (“Americas greatest singer-songerwriter” Rolling Stone) performs live for the inmates and audience following the screening of his documentary in the music sidebar. 

Locarno winners “The Girl From Nowhere” and “Not in Tel Aviv” will bring the enfant terrible of French Cinema, Jean-Claude Brisseau, and Israel’s young Godard-inspired Nony Geffen to the Fest. Emma Watson stars the in German Premiere of Stephen Chbosky’s “The Perks of Being a Wallflower”, in concert with its World Premiere at TIFF.

Slovenia’s most award-winning director, Jan Cvitkovic, honors us with his presence to present the German Premiere of “Archeo”, which swept awards at Slovene Film Fest. Julia Stiles stars in the World Premiere of Dan Mirvish’s adaptation of hit Off-Broadway play “Between Us”, with the Slamdance co-founder and in attendance to present his film. And young German superstar, Matthias Schweighöfer makes an appearance in the World Premiere of Andy Schaap’s “Tim Sander Goes to Hollywood”.

Other highlights complete Oldenburg’s line up for the 2012 Fest. Straight from Venice and TIFF comes Japan’s celebrated auteur, Takeshi Kitano’s latest offering, “Outrage Beyond’, and Kirsten Sheridan’s cast will attend to present “Dollhouse” fresh from their Best Ensemble win at Odessa International Film Festival. From Competition in Deauville comes “California Solo”, with director Marshall Lewy in attendance, and Matt Ruskin’s “Booster” starring SXSW Performance winner, Nico Stone, who will both attend to present their film. Cinema great, Ben Gazzara lives on in “Gazzara”, which will also be presented by its filmmakers. And Taiwan represents with the International Premiere and exotic debut of Mark Jarrett’s “The Taiwan Oyster”.

With Premieres of debut features from actor-turned directors Famke Janssen “Bringing Up Bobby” and Matthew Lillard “Fat Kid Rules The World”, Bobcat Goldthwait’s “God Bless America”, Sundance highlights Laurence Thrush’s “Pursuit of Loneliness”, and Quentin Dupieux’s “Wrong”, the attendance of Locarno lauded “Starlet” director, Sean Baker (and the real “Starlet” on the red carpet), and Christopher Coppola’s first International PAH  Fest, we couldn’t be more excited as we celebrate in the spirit of Finland’s kick-ass punk sensation ‘Pertti Kurika’s Name Day’ in “The Punk Syndrome” which recently won top honors at Odessa Film Festival.
