Festival résumé 2010


The résumé of the 17th Oldenburg International Film Festival is a good read: In five days more than 14.500 visitors saw 56 films, including 8 world premieres. The festival opened at the Fliegerhorst to THE CITY BELOW, presented by star Nicolette Krebitz. Other guests like Deborah Kara Unger, Timothy Bottoms, Kate Connor, Liv Lisa Fries, Radley Metzger, Amber Benson, Adam Busch and Paul Gordon gave the festival a truly glitzy glamorous feel. On Friday, the festival gala at the EWE Forum Alte Fleiwa saw guests of honor Bottoms and Metzger, who picked up their German Independence Honorary Awards. The film of the night showed Deborah Kara Unger’s latest appearance in TAKEDOWN, which ran as a European premiere.

Other highlights of the festival included DRONES by Amber Benson and Adam Busch, MONSTERS by Gareth Edwards, Alexandre Rockwell’s PETE SMALLS IS DEAD, Mark Lewis’ 3D Sequel CANE TOADS: THE CONQUEST and Thomas Stiller’s SIE HAT ES VERDIENT, presented by actor Oliver Mommsen at the JVA.

Among the many guests in Oldenburg this year were Howard Marks, Whitney Able, Alexandre Rockwell, Peter Dinklage, Tamar Simon Hoffs, Raul Inglis, Elena Serrano, Philip Koch, Caitlyn Sponheimer, Ryan O’Callaghan, Simon Rumley, Jennifer Li, John Gallagher, Arthur Brauss, Alexander Riedel, Bob Portal, Constantin von Jascheroff, Patrick Fischer, David Wilkinson, Dennis Hauck, Bela B. Felsenheimer, Mareike Fell, Tatjana Turanskyj, Yony Leyser, Jan Plewka, Jan-Hinrik Drevs, Dylan Verrechia and Christian Alvart.
