Stars on the red carpet

The red carpet is going to be crowded: The stars are flocking to the Opening Night on Wednesday September 15th at the Fliegerhorst in great numbers. The 17th Oldenburg International Filmfestival opens with the emotional drama THE CITY BELOW (UNTER DIR DIE STADT) on 7.30pm. From 7pm the star of the film, Golden Camera winner Nicolette Krebitz (LIEBESLIED, BANDITS), the festival’s guests of honor Radley Metzger and Timothy Bottoms, jury president Deborah Kara Unger (CRASH, THE GAME), and festival friend Seymour Cassel (FORT MCCOY, PETE SMALLS IS DEAD) will arrive at the location. Other guests include director Simon Rumley (RED, WHITE & BLUE), directors Mark Lewis (CANE TOADS – THE CONQUEST) and Dylan Verrechia (TIERRA MADRE) and director and actress Kate Connor (FORT MCCOY). Director Thomas Stiller and actress Liv Lisa Fries (both for SIE HAT ES VERDIENT), director Tamar Simon Hoffs (POUND OF FLESH), directing duo Amber Benson and Adam Busch (DRONES) as well as director and actor Paul Gordon (THE HAPPY POET) are expected to attend the opening gala. Along with Deborah Kara Unger two other jury members will already be in attendance on Wednesday: F. X. Feeney and Jesse Scolaro are at the festival right from the start and actor Thomas Darchinger represents this year’s short film jury. The festival will be opened by Lower Saxony’s minister of science and culture Prof. Dr. Johanna Wanka and Oldenburg’s mayor Prof. Dr. Gerd Schwandner together with festival director Torsten Neumann.
